What a party this is!  Last year (2012) was the 52nd Wurstfest, or “salute to the sausage (wurst)”.  It’s 10 days – yes, you read that right – 10 days full of music, dancing, food booths, retail booths, adult and non-adult beverages, lots to see and do!  It’s a popular festival.  Make your plans for lodging now, as it fills up well ahead of time.  There are four venues including the Wursthalle, the big tent, the small tent, and the Steltzenhaus which opened for the first time in 2011.  There are local bands from New Braunfels, other well-known Texas bands, and always bands and other entertainment from elsewhere in the States as well as Europe.   Attractions for the kids, too, from carnival rides to Gator the clown.  You’ll see folks dressed in German and Czech outfits (mostly German since this is a town with a strong German heritage and this is a German-oriented festival).  You’ll also see plenty of folks in “regular” clothing, so come dressed whichever way you are comfortable.  The fun dates for 2013 are Friday, November 1, through Sunday, November 10.  For more complete information including ordering tickets ahead of time, visit their website, www.wurstfest.com.  Mid-September is not too early to make plans and reservations!  Do it EARLY so you don’t miss out on this event.  You can order tickets either by mail or phone, so mark your calendar so you don’t forget.  (There’s a 25% discount for ordering early.)  We hope to see you there!  We’ll update this information a little closer to the time of the festival, but be assured it’s one you won’t want to miss!
