This is an overview of the 2012 NIOPC. When the time draws closer we will update with 2013 information, but what you read here at this time will pretty much be what you’ll get in 2013. The band will change, and very possibly the beneficiary of the fundraising. It’s possible that some of the sites participating in 2012 will change in 2013, but we’ll let you know in plenty of time.
Don’t miss this fundraiser for the Modern Dance Club #90. Proceeds in 2012 will benefit the Yoakum Hospital. You can spend all day in and around Yoakum and Pearl City or any part of it that suits your schedule and tastes, followed by dinner and a dance. They usually have a German Christmas Market from 10 AM-6 PM. Admission to this market is free. Just think: unique Christmas gifts without having to go to all the malls! The market will be in the old schoolhouse adjacent to Pearl City’s Turner Hall (6 miles west of Yoakum on Hwy. 111). An included option with your ticket is a Lutheran polka worship service at 3 PM at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Yoakum. You can tour historic sites in the area, too. In 2011 you could visit the Yoakum Heritage Museum and/or the Carl & Mary Welhausen Library (which is in the restored power plant building), and last year you could tour the Valentine Hoch Stagecoach Museum at Hochheim, just 5 miles west of Pearl City. Maybe they’ll repeat that this year. We’ll update this site when details are known.
The doors open at Turner Hall in Pearl City at 5:00. There will be door prizes, an outstanding silent auction, a raffle, and dinner and a dance with music by Los Kolaches, a very popular band. Tickets for the entire event are only $25 per person! Or join the dance club and your ticket to NIOPC will be only $10 per person. You could hardly get a good dinner for that, much less all the other things that go with your ticket! Tickets are limited and go fast, so contact Marlene Pylate at 830-459-5291 ASAP for tickets and table reservations, or to join the club. This is a very popular event with members and visitors. The date in 2013 is November 23, the Saturday before Thanksgiving. Your $25 ticket includes tours, meal and dance. Be there!
